Having been in the saddlery business for 50 years, Ian has extensive knowledge and experience in the horse industry. He served his apprenticeship under the watchful eye of Michael DeLaat at the original Richvale Saddlery in Richvale, Ontario. When Mr. DeLaat made the decision to close the store, Ian ventured out on his own and continued his repair shop at various location throughout the years. When Ian and Jennifer met, to the delight of the many customers Ian had retained through the years, they decided to revive the original Richvale Saddlery and open a full store.
Jennifer has had a life-long relationship with horses, beginning with the horses her Dad owned. As a child she rode and and even shopped at the original Richvale Saddlery. Many years later Jennifer met Ian and they discovered their connection through the horses. Together, Jennifer and Ian forged ahead opening their first official Richvale in Richmond Hill in 1991. Jennifer brought with her passion and knowledge of horse ownership together with business knowledge to build the business they have today.
As a child Lindsay accompanied, Jennifer and Ian to the many horse shows they attended with their store, while growing their business. Lindsay's constant exposure to the industry led to her love for horses, riding and competitive showing at all levels. She joined her family business in an official capacity in 2007, deciding to learn the hands on trade in the workshop. She has become a skilled craftsman, and has learned all aspects of saddle fitting, repairs and custom leather work. She has completed her Saddlery Apprenticeship under Ian's watchful eye and continues to build on her knowledge base through a variety of courses.
